Jeremy WIlson hits L.A. for Who Film Premier attended by Roger Daltrey
On Monday November 12th 2007 MastanMusic man Jeremy Wilson and good buddy Steve Wilkinson (singer/guitar front man for Portland's wicked Mission 5) flew to Los Angeles to attend a V.I.P. presentation of the new film Amazing Journey: The Story Of The Who. The party goers included The Who's gracious lead singer Roger Daltrey. Jeremy and Steve also performed The Who songs Magic Bus and My Generation with Dandy Warhols Courtney Taylor and drummer "FatHead", and Thrillbilly guitarist, the one and only, Dougie Lindstrom. The film was absolutely amazing and packed full of the coolest clips you've ever seen from all eras of The Who over the last 40 years. (Photo: On Stage In LA)

The Detroit/Brooklyn based songwriter says of his latest CD. "The Liquor Witch" is an 11 song album ...... It was recorded at the Tempermill Studio, as well as High Bias Studio and various apartments and bathrooms. Friends from Ancourage, Thoughts of Lonesco, Alkaline Trio, and Heads Will Roll all dropped by to help out." Look for Sean Madigan Hoen on the road in 2008.

Bela Karoli
"Snow" from the CD
Furnished Rooms
photo on mastanmusic.com The Denver, CO based Bela Karoli began as the solo project of Julie Davis (bass, soft instruments, vocals). The group grew to include Brigid McAuliffe (accordion, vocals) and Carrie Beeder (violin and cello) in 2006.

Bela Karoli’s "compelling mix of modern electronica with old-world acoustic music" is hard to classify, but great nonetheless. "Furnished Rooms" is their latest release from Helmet rOOm Records . Their website offers this interesting tidbit of information about the record, "The album takes its name from the second poem in T.S. Eliot’s “Preludes.” Published in 1917, “Preludes” is a series of bleak portraits of modern life through which Eliot hints at the hopelessness born of living in the modern machine. Alongside Eliot’s poetry, “Furnished Rooms” assembles other typically American lyrics, including George Gershwin’s “Summertime,” Oscar Hammerstein’s “Ol’ Man River,” and Emily Dickinson’s poem, “Some things that fly there be.” From the driver’s seat of a moving car, Julie Davis wrote the album’s other lyrics."

Golden Death Music
"Endless" from the CD
Ephemera Blues
photo on mastanmusic.com "The music I make, Golden Death Music, is a completely solo effort, though I have been involved in projects with other people such as The Blue Revision. My visage and accompanying body have been explained to me as being somewhere between 'horrifying' and 'quite fetching' ". Golden Death Music

Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, and rising up from the shadows of the music biz via Myspace, Golden Death Music is known for guitar based song-writing visions that fall between British psych pop and American folk rock (i.e Stone Roses, Elliot Smith). Also signed with Helmet rOOm, his myspace site has unique hand painted psychedelic CD covers (for the self produced "Ephemera Blues") and t-shirts for sale as well.

Still Pending
photo on mastanmusic.com

Local kid-rock band Still Pending has accomplished more in two short years than many bands do in a lifetime, and all well before their 'teens. Since their inception they have been interviewed and played on Radio Disney, and The Cartoon Network chose them to be one of the finalists on their "Props" talent search. The latter won them a chance to record in Hollywood with Grammy-winning producers Antonina Armato and Tim James. The band owes much of its success to internet formats such as Myspace and YouTube, where their videos have amassed upwards of half a million hits. And the buzz keeps growing. Grant, the band's drummer, was signed by corporate sponsors Mapex Drums and Sabian Cymbals earlier this year. Despite their youth, they are very serious musicians, dedicated to their craft, writing their own songs and rehearsing 3-4 times a week. They're not just "good for their age"...these guys are just good.

Tune in to part 2 of Episode 37 as Reed, Grant, and Andrew treat us to some of their melodic punky-pop tunes, and tell us about their adventures in Hollywood.
