"Flaws" from the CD
The Expensive Tastes EP |
The San Francisco based Masterslashslave is Matt Jones on "words, synth magic, and guitar action", and Serge Garcia banging the "Noise buckets". Traveling in a Toyota Matrix affectionately named Keanu,
this electro/indie pop duo has been winning over audiences in clubs all over the USA. Fall of 2007 finds them traveling the southern part of the country, from San francisco to South Carolina, with stops in Nevada, Louisiana, Florida and Texas.

My Life in Black and White
"Don't Hang Yourself" from the CD
Progeny Blues |
My Life in Black and White is another great Portland band who love their rock 'n roll and their country mixed together. With a muscular rhythm section undergirding brick walls of guitar and alcohol soaked vocals, these guys are known for their energetic live shows. Their new CD "Bottles, Our Breakdowns" is out now and available from the folks at Punk Collective Interpunk
Don't miss them live in Eugene and Portland this fall on bills with country punks Sid and Fancy.

Mike Moore
"North Kansas" from the CD
Whisky Songs |
Portland based songwriter Mike Moore
has a new CD out called "Whisky Songs". Filled with depression and alcohol inspired songs, this record is dark and organic sounding. Harmony vocals are highlighted by acoustic guitar, piano, drums and the occasional studio trick here and there.
You can catch MIke doing his thing on most Tuesday evenings at Haven Coffee ( SE 35th & Division in Portland, OR) during their open mic night.

"Goodbye World", the new disc from Los Angeles group The Sheers
features Bill Shupp on bass, Luke Adams (formerly of Pete Yorn's band) on drums, and Danny DeLaMatyr (Rhett Miller, Luther Russell) on lead vocals and guitar. "Goodbye World" is cool sugary sweet vocal-based pop rock and is available through

9 songs 4-5-6 |
The Smokes , produced by Pat Kearns (Exploding Hearts, Clorox Girls, Soda Pop Kids, Blue Skies For Black Hearts), hail from Portland. T. Rex inspired guitars lead the way in their minimalist rock 'n roll world. Their new disc "9 songs 4-5-6" is available now at The Smokes Website. They are currently planning to tour in support of the new album, bringing their self-described, "sweaty show" to the masses at stops all over the West Coast..

| Leigh Marble |

Join us for Episode 35 pt 2 of the Mastan Music Hour. Live guest this week is Leigh Marble.
The term singer-songwriter often conjures images of lone troubadors, plaintively singing their woes, accompanied by nothing but a guitar and self-pity.
Boston transplant, Leigh Marble easily dispels that myth, particularly with his newest release "Red Tornado" (Laughing Stock Records). For his sophomore effort, Marble enlisted the talents of drummer Jason Russell and keyboard virtuoso Ben Macy, who, by his own admission knows "nothing about rock 'n roll". Together, they created a set of songs that comfortably inhabit a space somewhere between punk, folk and Americana, with lyrics that are razor sharp.
Listen in on Leigh and band in part 2 of Episode 35 as they talk about the new album and preview some of the new tracks!
Leigh Marble appears in this performance with:
Leigh Marble - vox, acoustic guitar
Jason Russell- drums
Ben Macy - keyboards, vox
