Jon Auer
"Six Feet under" from the CD
Songs From The Year Of Our Demise |
Jon Auer has made a spectacular career for himself as a purveyor of awesome power pop as a member of the Posies and with Big Star, not to mention his collaboration with Ben Folds from time to time. "Songs From the year Of Our Demise" released on Pattern 25 Records/Moor Works, focuses on the pop side. Where the Posies focus more on rocking out, Jon Auer presents his reflective songs with intimate vocals and understated guitars outlined by British alt rock style (i.e. Stone Roses, the Smiths) production values.

Jon Auer: Everything
This Mortal Choir: Back Up Vocals

Sick Little Package |
Hairspray Blues are made up of the husband and wife duo Kyle and Leslie Stabile. They are true rock warriors and have no qualms melting minds all over the place via their new disc, "Sick Little package". They came to rainy Portland, OR, indie rock mecca of the world, from what they refer to as "the dismal woods of Northwestern Pennsylvania". We are glad to have them rocking out on the western side of the good ol USA.
Band members:
Kyle Stabile - Guitar & Vocals
Leslie Stabile - Drums & Attitude

Bumtech
"Face" from the CD
Beware Of D-G |
Bumtech's Sharon Schloss and Jonn Walterscheid have been cranking out their brand of New Wave since 2005. Citing the Legendary Pink Dots as their "favorite band"along with the Smiths and Cocteau Twins as creative inspiration, they create a sound not unlike the bands they enjoy listening to. Their new disc, "Beware of D-G" was recorded and produced by Sean Flora and sounds very good. They are also very funny and allow this explanation of their odd name: According to Jonn, "Bumtech is a consulting firm for slacking off. If you’re tired of getting out of bed in the morning, call Bumtech. If you want the bullshit in your life to lose all importance, Bumtech is for you" (Gaycondo, 3/31/08). See them on tour in in the NW this summer.
Band members:
Sharon Schloss - bass, vocals, keyboards, programming
Jonn Walterscheid - guitar, vocals, programming

Colin Lake & Wellbottom
"Station Blues" from the CD
Bullet |
Today Colin Lake & Wellbottom keep the blues rock flame alive, reaffirming Jimi Hendrix influence over a young generation of guitar players. At 26 years of age, Colin Lake; Guitarist surprisingly displays both chops and good taste, the later being something many young guitar heroes lack. His playing sounds authenticate and full of aggressive tone.
He's following the recent release of "Bullet" with NW tour dates including stops in oregon, Washington and Canada. Colin Lake & Wellbottom are a sure bet for a great live show, so check them out.
Band Members:
Colin Lake - Lap-slide Guitars, Vocals
Kevin Marcotte - Bass Guitar
Jason Stewart - Drums, Percussion, Propellor
Deejay Redi Jedi - Turntables
Bryan Apell - Guitar

| Brady Beard |
Brady Beard says, "I always have the guitar with me...." It shows in his approach to playing the instrument. Rattling off triplets and shuffle rhythms with ease, connecting blues and funk riffs effortlessly while singing his heartfelt songs, Brady is a flurry of musical energy . He came down to the studio and busted out this live performance quicker than you can say "lickety-split". As is often the case when someone who plays as passionately as Brady Beard steps up to the mic.... acoustic rock mayhem reigns. Watch for Brady's debut release this fall recorded by Jeremy Wilson at MastanMusic studio.
The band is:
Brady Beard - vox/guitar
