Featuring
The Posies - Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow
Join us in Episode 51 Part 1 where Jeremy Wilson and Sam Densmore spin new tracks from: Halophile, Robert Rolfe Feddersen, Michael Dean Damron, Blind Pilot, The Troublemakers and Childhood Friends.
For Episode 51 Part 2 of the MastanMusic Hour, The Posies
Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow stopped by and turned in a rare acoustic set. Armed only with two guitars and their sweet sounding voices, they took us on a journey through their intelligent and flowery pop world. The five song set touches on songs from throughout their career and delivers the hits with renditions of "Dream All Day" and "Suddenly Mary" coming off quite nicely. Though they've always been consummate professionals, their time playing onstage with heavy hitters such as REM and Big Star seems to have informed and en-lived their stage presence. Their 20 year anniversary Portland tour stop at Dante's (following the recording of this podcast), was a reminder that they are still firing on all cylinders and kicking out the rock like never before. Congratulations to the Posies on 20 years of inspired music! (photos of the Posies by Juliana Tobon)

Halophile plays Seattle and the surrounding NW area frequently.

Leaving indiana |
Robert Rolfe Feddersen has created a beautiful "slice-of-life-as-art" piece with his new CD "Leaving Indiana". "Leaving Indiana is the most fun and creative recording experience I've ever had. Songs about my wife, California, my best friend's new baby, my dog...everything relevant to my life today." According to his myspace page, Roberts claims to acclaim include hanging with Bob Barker in a stint as a contestant on "The Price is Right", rocking the stage with Metallica, recording with Steve Albini, Johnny K., Joe Baresi, and writing music for "more than thirty films, tv shows and video games".

Their latest CD, " Chop Shop Pit Stop" was produced and recorded by your MastanMusic Hour hosts Jeremy Wilson and Sam Densmore. Their rocking and rolling songs bring to mind Texas blues and classic rockabilly. If you want to rock n roll, be sure and check them out at a Portland show this summer.

"Paint or Pollen" from the CD
3 Rounds and a Sound |
The Portland based indie-pop/folk duo known as Blind Pilot "started playing music together as a way to tour by bicycle and play shows from Vancouver, BC to San Francisco. It was such a good trip that we came back to Portland and recorded an album..." says Israel. "3 rounds and a sound" is coming out in June 2008 on Expunged Records. More touring by bicycle is in the works. In the meantime, PDX area shows are booked through the summer, including a slot on the PDX Pop Now festival on July 26.

Childhood Friends
"Because I Wanted To" from the CD
Key Party |
Jake Rose and Ilima Considine, aka Childhood Friends, make interesting music and have an interesting story to tell as well. The two met at a PDX Pop Now! concert and proceeded to form a band and have a baby together. Their new CD "Key Party" is a slide through experimental indie rock and noise. Ilima's voice reminded us ever so slightly of Yoko Ono circa Plastic Ono Band. Catch them on tour this summer in Oregon, Washington and California.
