"Serenades and Hand Grenades" is their new CD on the King Of Hearts Record Label, coming out May 20 with a CD release show scheduled for May 30th at Holocene in Portland, OR. Summer tour dates scheduled to take them to venues as far away as Boise, ID and Los Angeles, CA., find Blue Skies for Black Hearts exposing their music to the masses on the road. The Posies Visit MastanMusic Studio
Jon Auer and Ken Springfellow from the internationally acclaimed band The Posies were in town May 16th celebrating the fact that they have been a band for 20 years now. They joined us at our studio to play for Episode 51 of The MastanMusic Hour. Their tour which has taken them all through Europe continued with four NW dates in Seattle, Portland, Tacoma and their home town of Bremerton WA. We caught up with them the night of their Portland show when they took a break to come over to the studio and perform acoustically. We'll be releasing the concert, interview and video single June 2nd. We were absolutely honored to host these talented fellows and Jeremy Wilson and Sam Densmore along with everyone in the crew were floored by their majestic songs and pitch perfect vocals. Don't miss Ep 51 Part 2 of the MastanMusic Hour coming out June 2nd. It's like WOW!!

DEEP ROOTS MUSIC PROJECT - Year 2 for MastanMusic!
The deep Roots Music Project now in its eleventh year has just released three new CDs, with 4 songs produced and engineered by Jeremy Wilson at MastanMusic studio for the Roosevelt High School CD - The Saint Johns Poetry Sessions Vol 2. Be sure to listen to The MastanMusic Hour Episode 50 Part 1 to hear the tracks and to learn about this fabulous music project that takes young writers from high school and matches them with area artists to produce full blown studio version songs from the students' lyrics. Keegan Smith Claiming to be "part of a much larger musical movement called Northwest Fresh", Keegan Smith and the Fam are taking their soul infused hip hop reggae blues from Los Angeles to Seattle over the remainder of 2008. He's contributed to both Deep Roots: St Johns Poetry Sessions Volumes 1 and 2. The lyrics to this lead off track, "Our New World" were a collaborative effort by teacher Richard Brown's Roosevelt High School creative writing class. (photo www.bellanina.com)

John Henry Bourke
"Pain" from the CD
DRMP - Saint Johns Poetry Sessions Vol 2
John Henry Bourke, is known around Portland as a member of Funk Shui, also the backing band on this track. He has a new solo CD out that's a bit different in tone, more sensitive and emotional than the hard hitting funk of Funk Shui. "Pain" is his collaboration with student writer Ayanna Hill. You can listen to an interview with her in this episode of the MastanMusic Hour, where she describes the inspiration for her poetic song lyrics.

His tour schedule includes dates all over the state of Oregon, and lists an upcoming show in New York City too.

Jeremy's childhood in Detroit shines through in the rapid funk rhythms of the vocal while Tony shows off his magical ability to turn any instrument to his whim. Portland songwriter Pat Kearns started Blue Skies For Black Hearts as a solo recording project. The Music Gods demanded live renditions of his songs and a true band was born. Now on their third release, they show some serious muscle having knocked out great recordings of Pat's John Lennon and Kinks inspired hooks on "Serenades and Hand Grenades".
