Siberian
"Begian Beer and Catholic Girls" from the CD
With Me |
"Seattle’s Siberian plays indie pop that’s beautiful and muscular, gliding easily between shimmering heights and glittering angularity. The fact that Siberian has only one album...under its belt is surprising given the confidence that shines through." - Portland Tribune
Sonic Boom Recordings has an indie pop gem with the moody sounds of Siberian. They are taking the west coast by storm this Spring with their tour plans taking them from the great NW all the way to Texas, and back through Calilfornia to wrap it up at the Sasquatch Music Festival in the Gorge. See them perform in Portland, Or at The Someday Lounge May 10th w/ The Caves.

The Dry County Crooks
"Second Chance At Love" from the CD
When Hearts Break |
The Dry County Crooks new CD, "When Hearts Break", has arrived at the MastanMusic office! Their new record is a barn-burner, running the gamut of their stylistic influences from Social Distortion to Johnny Cash. Don't miss their upcoming CD release show at Dante's on May 17.
The Dry County Crooks are a rocking outlaw country band from Portland, Oregon. A blue-collar message and punk-abilly riffs have become their trademarks. "Mix punk, twang and add attitude. Dry County Crooks mines the rebel spirit of both genres." –(Angela Yeager, Statesman Journal). "The Crooks music is country, but don't be put off by that label, because waiting around the corner are loud guitars, tattoos and murder ballads." – (Rob Peacock. www.nw-radio.com)
Vocalist/acoustic guitarist Vinny D’s anthems are the ignition system in the hopped up pickup that is The Dry County Crooks. Influences Johnny Cash, Social Distortion, and The Pogues are hot wired into tales of rural American characters, greased up broken hearts, alcoholic binges and knife wielding street fighters. Paul Becker’s electric guitar crunch sparks the 8-cylinder rhythm section of drummer Cheo Larcombe and bassist Johnny B. Inspired crowds drink, dance and sing along for the ride. Band:
Vinny D-Vox, Guitar, Sax
Paul Becker-Guitar
Johnny B-Bass, Vox
Cheo Larcombe-Drums

After Them
"Starlight Scope" from the CD
Demo |
From East Brunswick, New Jersey comes After Them.
This is easily one of the strangest CDs to show up in our mailbox. It's twisted, like and Absinthe bender gone awry.
After Them's self released demo shows an appreciation for Frank Zappa,
slapped bass, lo-fi recording techniques, and Trolls. They call it "alt funk", but this is almost impossible to categorize, really.
It's the kind of music you have to hear in order to begin to understand it.
Band members:
Tomar DeFresco...Vocals
Windy Jones...Bass
D.George...Keys
Joe Positive...Guitars
Richard Johnson...drums
