Lewi Longmire
"San Ysidro" from the CD
Fire “Neath the Still |
Lewi Longmire heads a band that is unique for it’s leader. Lewi Longmire, never a stranger to collaboration has worked in many illustrious bands both within and without the NorthWest. His latest album “Fire ‘Neath the Still” is a beautiful blend of sleepy folk and wholesome Roots Rock. Careful instrumentation and a sense of fun are easily Longmire’s defining characteristics and his new album is something surely not to miss. It’s coming release party is on the 26th of April at the Mission Theater. Be there and be folk.
Band members:
Lewi Longmire- Vocals, Guitar
Bill Rudolph- Bass
Ned Folkerth- Drums
Jenny Conlee- Keys

The Cherry Poppin' Daddies
"Bust Out" from the CD
Susquehanna |
We are proud to present the first track in the newest, upcoming Cherry Poppin' Daddies album. Called Susquehanna, it's an absolutely schizophrenic take on anything the band has done before. In one song alone they bounce around from mariachi, reggae, swing, to latin lounge, often in less than a minute. Insane? Oh completely, but that's the whole fun of it. If anything this is an attempt by a seasoned Oregon band to redefine how music is made. Wild, fun, and catchy, Susquehanna is a defining turn by this group that is something to watch. You can buy their latest album and a bunch of others here.
Band members:
Steve Perry- vocals, guitar, keyboards
Dana Heitman- trumpet
Dan Schmid- bass
Jason Moss- Guitar
Sean Flannery- tenor sx, bari sax
Dustin Lanker- keyboards, vocals
Tim Donahue- drums
Joe Manis- alto sax, bari sax
To hear more new songs from them check out their Myspace page.

Palodine
"Sweet Mouth, Black Heart" from the CD
Garden of Deceit |
Who ever knew that Palodine's sound comes from the children of coal miners and mormon immigrants? And who ever knew that coal miners and mormon immigrants could ever be so gothy. But thankfullly, Palodine seems to break the mold in that their gothy music is good. Their latest album, "Garden of Deceit" represents a revised effort from their first attempts in that it's harsher, darker, and grittier. Lead singer Katrina Whitney provides smokey and throaty vocals that can truly possess the listener. You can buy their latest album here. Don't blame me if you find yourself reachin' for the razor and eye shadow.
Band members:
Michael Aryn- Guitar, banjo, bass, dobro, etc.
Katrina Whitney- Lyrics, Voice, micro korg, toy instruments and tools
Bill Patton- backing vocals, vibraphone

John Henry
"Cour D'Alene" from the CD
American Standards |
"American Standards" is a solo oriented album from Funk Shui member John Henry Bourke. His high, smooth vocals sweep through delicate guitar riffs and a distinct americana style. It's hard not to picture this album going with a long, solo drive through the eastern parts of Oregon. Where Funk Shui is bombastic and in-your-face, John Henry is lonely and unassuming.
The band:
John Henry Bourke- lead vocals, guitar
Jeff Duffy- drums
Sean Nowland- bass
and others

Funk Shui
"Hurricane" from the CD
Armored Vegetable |
Funk Shui is an insane six-piece funk band from Portland, OR. It saw a humble beginning back on Hawthorne street when Biddy McGraw's Irish Pub held an open funk jam. From there, to their latest album "Armored Vegetable" an incredible transformation can certainly been heard. Confident, brash, and absolutely funky, Funk Shui's songs bounce around on their album like groovy superballs. Their infectious sound can be caught here.
Band members:
Jeff Duffy- drums
Sean Nowland- bass, trumpet, vocals
John Henry Bourke- guitar, Hammond organ, vocals
Rob Matthews- sax, flute, tambourine, vocals
David Langenes- guitar, vocals
Gavi Detarr- trumpet, vocals
with the help of: Adara Blake, Jeffree White, Shandeen, & Natalie Doyle

Lid Emba & Bob Crane
"Bird Brain" from the CD
We Substitute RADIANCE |
Lid Emba brings us another trip into whatever psychedelic asylum he escaped from (or didn't, it's debatable). A change from the norm on our podcast, it's certainly no-less novel. "We Substitute Radiance" is a collaboration with longtime noise and glitch artist Bob Crane. Whereas Emba's earlier work is defined by an incredible amount of personal time, insanity and complete lack of convention... this latest album is a turn in a different direction. Despite having never physically meeting, Bob Crane and Lid Emba crafted the whole of "We Substitute Radiance" by snail-mailing sound files back and forth 500 miles. The result is wicked, textural, and disturbing.
Find out more about this band at their MySpace site.
The Band is:
Lid Emba- weirdness
Bob Crane- crazyness

| Silverhawk |
This show represents the continued new format for our Podcast. Our featured artists do two sets, so be sure to check out our next MastanMusic Hour, Episode 48 to hear set 2 from Silverhawk.
Our latest guest to our studio is continual favorite for MastanMusic, none-other than Silverhawk. Silverhawk is the brainchild of the Densmore brothers and their continual evolving collaboration. Sure, this episode may be evidence for nepotism at the MastanMusic studio... but this time, nepotism ROCKS. Silverhawk's latest album "Hangover Bicycle Ride" gives new members time to shine as well as proving that the old hats still got what it takes. The show itself features the lovely, and talented vocals of EVERYONE. That's right, kiddies, not only do all members of Silverhawk sing and play instruments, but Sam even brought his beautiful wife Laura to sing as well! With this dedication to their sound it's hard not to hear Silverhawks crazy psychedelic americana leanings, and absolute love of rawkin' out. Be sure to catch all that they're doing at our latest show
The band is:
Sam Densmore: Vocals, Guitar, Baritone Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboards
John Densmore: Vocals, Bass, Guitar
Rob Allison: Drums, Vocals
Anthony Cotham: Keys, Vocals
Guests:
Laura Densmore: Vocals
