The Wasteland Kings |
The Wasteland Kings are a band of weirdos, miss-fits, and the kind of people you avoid while walking to the 7-11. They bring their full-on Americana from La Grande, Oregon but, like the band, everything comes with a twist. There is no genre they stick to, and their sound ranges from folk, to punk, to blues, and to reggae. Be sure to catch there latest self-produced record here. It's influential, demented, and sure to satisfy.

Transmissionary Six
"The Dangling Electrified Boy" from the CD
Cosmonautical |
The Transmissionary six is the ever-evolving indie-downtempo project fronted by songwriters Terri Moeller and Paul Austin. Their latest record "Cosmonautical" is a fabulously moody journey as through the viens of a gothy, country-girl wristcutter. That may seem strange but the image fits with the mood of The Transmissionary Six. Moeller and Austin pull no stops in bringing in as many collaborators as your headphones can handle, and the result is an grim, haunting album that is impossible to stop listening to. Catch it here.
Band members:
Terri Moeller- vocals, drums!!! and percussion
Paul Austin- guitar, bass, contraptions and junk
Jon Hyde- pedal steel, piano, etc. backup vocals
And the contributions of: Graig Markel, Daniel G. Harmann, Michael Wells, and Chris Eckman

Scotland Barr and the Slow Drags
This show represents a new format for our Podcast. Our featured artists do two sets, so be sure to check out our next MastanMusic Hour, Episode 46 to hear set 2 from Scotland Barr and the Slow Drags .
Our latest guest to our studio has blessed us with not only two sets, but a roster of rockin' Americana. A rarity on the scene, Scotland Barr and the Slow Drags is a full-fledged 6-piece band. The band debuted after Barr's first album "Legionnaires Disease", an album created with the help of many of Portland's top musicians. Over time, the Slow Drags formed and went on to gain national acclaim and loyal fans. Not bad for a band that played almost 100 gigs in 2006 as a completely independent band. Be sure to experience the magic yourself on April 18th at the Mission Theater in Portland, Oegon. Scotland Barr and the Slow Drags will be celebrating the release of their latest album "All the Great Aviators Agree". If you can't make it, or want an early taste of what mojo they're dishin', you can get their debut album here
The band is: Scotland Barr- Lead vocals, Guitar/ Bryan Daste- Pedal steel, Theremin, Sax, Vocals/ Zach Hinkleman- Lead Guitar, Vocals/ Nick Kostenborder- Drums/ Brian Bergstrom - Bass / Chris Hubbard - Keys
